I am a 3rd year PhD student working under the supervision of Dr. Joel Fish at the University of Toronto. My thesis is focused on investigating the use of laser therapy to improve hypertrophic burn scars in pediatric patients. More specifically, our research group is running a clinical trial to determine if treatment with laser therapy is more effective than conservative management alone at improving the overall functional and aesthetic outcome of hypertrophic burn scars.

Shortly after beginning my PhD, I joined the ASLMS as a student member to learn more from the world’s leading laser experts as well as share the results from my own research at the annual meeting. As a student member, I have benefited from the many educational and networking opportunities offered by the organization and was awarded a Student Research Grant in 2018.

I am looking forward to representing the interests of other ASLMS early career professionals and creating new opportunities for mentorship over the next two years!
