Educational Needs These sessions will promote understanding of:

  • Tissue and cell/molecular-level responses of skin following energy-based interventions
  • Background on latest technologies for skin imaging, rejuvenation and lypolisis  
  • The use of light in medicine for treatment, in which photons transfer their energy to specific targets to modify tissues
  • The use of light in medicine for imaging and diagnostics, in which photons interrogate the structure and function of cells and tissue.
  • How photomedicine is advancing patient care.

Participants Clinicians, scientists, researchers, developers.

Background Requirements Basic knowledge of skin and major structural components, skin extracellular matrix remodeling, and basic light-tissue interactions.

Instructional Content/Expected Learning Objectives Participants will learn about:

  • The latest technologies for skin rejuvenation, spanning ablative and non-ablative approaches with knowledge gained on epithelial response and ECM remodeling.
  • The use of light and imaging for assessing skin properties and structure.  
  • Advances in drug delivery using fractional lasers and in understand the skin response to this laser modality.
