  • Laser Treatment of Vascular Lesions and Pediatric Patients
    Fundamentals in Dermatology Kristen Kelly, MD

    This is an introduction to one of the most common uses of lasers for skin disease, vascular lesions. Laser basics related to vascular lesions will be covered including selective photothermolysis and epidermal cooling. Treatment for clinical indications including port wine birthmarks, infantile hemangiomas, angiofibromas associated with tuberous sclerosis and telangiectases/rosacea are discussed. Pearls for laser treatment of pediatric patients are also covered. The webinar features a lecture followed by Q&A with Dr. Kelly.

  • PDT: The State of the Art
    Fundamentals in Dermatology Fernanda Sakamoto, MD, PhD

    This course is a basic overview of photodynamic therapy (PDT) for the treatment of skin disorders. We will present fundamental concepts related to this complex physical-chemical reaction that utilizes a photosensitizer and an activating light source. Many variables including different light sources, methods of light application and a variety of photosensitizers can potentially affect the outcomes of the treatment. It is important to understand the details to optimize efficacy and reduce side-effects.
