ASLMS is seeking a Communications Specialist.

Position Title: Communications Specialist
Classification: Hourly – 40 hours per week
Reports to: 
Marketing and Communications Supervisor


General Duties & Responsibilities

The Communications Specialist will perform a variety of specialized functions to assist with the organization’s communications and marketing in the areas of membership, education, and governance. This includes strong involvement in social media and digital communications content and delivery as well as print and online graphics for large-scale events. The Communications Specialist will develop content in accordance with the organization’s mission, vision, strategic goals, and branding. They will work under the direction of the Marketing and Communications Supervisor.


Specific Duties Include:

Communications (60%)

- Create and publish content for website and social media
- Prepare and distribute weekly/monthly enewsletters
- Responsible for the social media platforms, including graphics/copy, posting, and interaction with followers
- Collaborate on the development and maintenance of content calendars
- Monitor and create reports on web analytics, social media, and newsletter metrics

Graphic Production (35%)

- Create both print and digital collateral for day-to-day activities as well as the annual conference and other events
- Work with staff and outside vendors to ensure branding standards are maintained
- Serve as point of contact for printers and conference vendors
- Maintain the database of graphic, image, and multimedia files

Other Functions (5%)

- Creates and updates process documentation
- Potential to travel to the Annual Conference to support marketing activities
- Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Educational Requirements

- Bachelor or associate degree in Communication, Marketing, or Graphic Design. Equivalent experience will be considered.

Required Skills

- Experience creating content for print materials, web, enewsletters, and social media
- Demonstrated writing, proofreading, and editing skills with a high level of accuracy
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with website maintenance and a basic understanding of SEO principles
- Intermediate level experience with graphic design on a PC device
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Strong attention to detail and highly organized

Preferred Skills/Experience

- Familiar with WordPress websites
- Experience working with an email platform such as MailChimp or Brevo

Working Conditions and Other Information

- Remote work that requires close working virtual relationships with team members
- Domestic travel may be required one week per year
