Edward Kuan, MD, MBA | ASLMS Resident-Fellow Student Board Representative

I am currently a fourth-year resident surgeon in the UCLA Department of Head of Neck Surgery. I completed my undergraduate studies in Business Economics and Biology at UCLA, followed by a joint MD/MBA degree at UC Irvine. As a medical student, I worked extensively with Dr. Brian Wong of the UC Irvine Department of Otolaryngology, and have since developed an interest in biomedical engineering applications in otolaryngology. I am now working with Dr. Warren Grundfest and Dr. Zachary Taylor of the UCLA Department of Bioengineering on laser-generated shockwave disruption of biofilms. After residency, I hope to complete a fellowship in academic rhinology and skull base surgery. I have been involved with ASLMS since medical school, having presented several abstracts and been privileged to be a 2010 Student Research Grant recipient. I am excited to give back to ASLMS in my role as resident/fellow board representative. In my spare time outside of the ACGME-regulated 80-hour work week, I enjoy Chinese history, watching movies, traveling, and spending time with my family.
